There will be food and drink and music and dancing and tons of fun. The event is a pay-what-you-can benefit fundraiser for BrickHaus, a cuttingedge alternative arts space in Baltimore. Anything from $5 to $50 accepted, nobody turned away for lack of funds. Consider offering $15. Listen to Skogen @ https://soundcloud.com/skogenband From a Hungarian review: "Raw young powerful folk duo Skogen. Starting from Budapest, playing music from all over eastern Europe. They bring new life and energy into old folk tunes. They sing in Yiddish, Romanian, Hungarian and Norwegian while the chromatic button accordion keeps the bass and chords and the violin sings these party tunes all with the beat coming from their suitcase bass drum. With curled mustache, fedoras and vests these guys look like they're from another time but their music has the power to rival against even the wildest punk bands." - Ásmány Lívia, Balkan Pub Crawl Budapest About BrickHaus Art Space: Located in an old warehouse in Baltimore’s Harwood neighborhood, BrickHaus Art Space houses affordable artist studios, with access to shared shop facilities, a recording studio, and a professional exhibition space. With its weekly seminar program, BrickHaus promotes a collaborative community where artists can share ideas and find the support and inspiration necessary to move their artistic and professional practice to the next level. Through engaging public programs and events showcasing local, national and international artists, BrickHaus Art Space strives to further diversify and strengthen Baltimore’s already rich arts culture. @brickhausart http://www.facebook.com/pages/BrickHaus-Art-Space/210354972358447 www.brickhaus.org Come join us at this awesome high energy show and help support alternative arts in Baltimore!!!

Be there for BrickHaus.

BrickHaus has a lot to be thankful for this year. Thanks to its committed supporters and studio artists, BrickHaus is the new go-to art space for many Baltimoreans. Today, however, we need your help. On #GivingTuesday, BrickHaus aims to raise $3000 for general operating costs, so it may continue supporting its current artists and grow its capacity to offer even more creative opportunities. If this goal is not met, BrickHaus will face very serious challenges moving forward and into the new year. Make this day your day to give back. Though we may not say it very often, BrickHaus's future depends on the support of individual givers. If you believe in the arts, please give today and challenge the art lovers in your life to do the same.

BrickHaus Art Space is a grassroots creative center committed to fostering personal and professional artistic development through the provision of studio space, shared technical facilities, gallery space, and a forum for critique and lectures. Since its founding in 2011, BrickHaus has risen to the needs of the community and has become a haven for growth and collaboration. Located in an old storage warehouse in Baltimore’s Harwood neighborhood, BrickHaus houses affordable artists’ studios with access to shared shop facilities and a professional exhibition space. Through engaging public programs and events showcasing local, national and international artists, BrickHaus Art Space strives to further diversify and strengthen Baltimore’s already rich arts culture.

Thank you for making BrickHaus your place for art, and please spread the word by sharing #GivingTuesday on Twitter, Facebook, and email!

http://givingtuesday.org/partner-detail/brickhaus-art-space/

Donate
Fractured Atlas

Donate
PayPal

BrickHaus Art Space and Kathleen Overman announce a call for entries for FULLY EXPOSED: An Exhibition of, by, and for The Darkroom

Deadline for submissions is September 30th, 2012

FULLY EXPOSED: An Exhibition of, by, and for the Darkroom will be a juried exhibition of photographic works centered around the disappearing art of darkroom practices. Fully Exposed seeks to explore the importance and relevance of analog photography and photochemical process in contemporary art, while promoting and raising funds for the construction of a public access darkroom in Baltimore, MD.

Juror: Regina DeLuise

We are pleased to announce photographer Regina DeLuise as the juror for Fully Exposed.

About the Juror:

Regina DeLuise was born in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from SUNY Purchase with a BFA and an MA from Rosary College, Graduate School of Fine Arts in Florence, Italy.
Before coming to teaching, Regina worked in both a commercial gallery in New York (Daniel Wolf Gallery, representing Joel Sternfeld, Jed Devine, Todd Pappageorge, John Coplans) and founded a cooperative gallery with 5 remarkable artists in Manchester Vermont (Elm Street Arts). ESA quickly became an alternative home to a burgeoning art community. Curating monthly group and solo exhibitions of it's member artists, Elm St Arts also hosted readings by poets including, Jamaica Kincaid and Donald Hall, offered art classes for children and threw some pretty awesome parties.

Regina is represented by Bonni Benrubi Gallery in NY and has exhibited her work internationally. She received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1993 and traveled throughout India, Nepal, Italy and Spain. Her work is represented in private and public collections including The Museum of Modern Art and Metropolitan Museum in NY, Brooklyn Museum, Art Institute of Chicago, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Smithsonian Museum of American History, Houston Museum of Fine Art, Corcoran Gallery of Art and the Canadian Centre for Architecture in Montreal.
